97% of missionaries serve where the gospel is already known.
Frontier Discovery Project works to open pathways into the places where billions still have little or no access to the message of Jesus. We Train • Partner • Start New Communities

Hard places are communities where the message of Jesus has rarely — and sometimes never — been heard.Hard places are regions where:• few people have ever heard the message of Jesus
• very few Christians live
• outside missionaries face major barriers
• local believers often serve with little supportMore than 3 billion people — nearly 40% of the world — live in these hard places.Yet these regions receive only a small share of the world’s missionaries and mission funding.Frontier Discovery Project exists to help change that.
Where the Need Is
• 96% — People living in hard places
• 4% — People living where the gospel is widely accessibleWhere Mission Effort Goes
• 3% — Missionaries serving hard places
• 97% — Missionaries serving places where the church already exists

Training
We equip frontier workers for long-term service in hard places through mentoring, field exposure, and hands-on training both at home and abroad. Many short-term mission experiences inspire people but rarely lead to long-term service. Across the missions world, only about 1 in 500–1,000 participants eventually become long-term missionaries.Among those who train with Frontier Discovery Project, roughly 1 in 25–30 go on to serve long-term.

Local Partners
In many hard places, foreign missionaries face enormous barriers. But local believers often have access outsiders never will.Frontier Discovery Project works alongside trusted local leaders in sensitive regions, helping provide strategy, funding, and logistical support so the work can continue and grow.In some areas, these partners are the only known believers serving their communities.
New Access
Many hard places remain difficult to access.Through strategic trips and collaborative projects, Frontier Discovery Project works with local partners to explore new regions, build relationships, and help establish new ministry locations and churches. These efforts open new pathways for the gospel in places where the message of Jesus has rarely — and sometimes never — been heard.

Working in Sensitive RegionsFrontier Discovery Project focuses on some of the world’s most difficult regions — places where the message of Jesus is least known and access is often limited.Because many of these areas are sensitive, we do not publicly identify specific locations or partners. Our work currently includes:• training and preparation programs for people exploring long-term service
• partnerships with trusted local leaders in restricted or difficult regions
• collaborative projects opening new access into frontier areasMuch of this work happens quietly, but the impact continues to grow.
